Following her shocking assertion that she is Madeleine McCann, the British child who went missing in 2007 at the age of three after going missing from a holiday resort in Portugal, Julia Wendell, a Polish woman, has gained widespread attention.
There are still many theories about what truly happened in the case that attracted the attention of the entire globe because it has never been solved.
Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine’s parents, have consistently argued that she was kidnapped when they left her and her siblings alone in their holiday flat in Praia da Luz, Portugal, so they could go out to eat nearby.
Following the identification of German prisoner Christian Brueckner as a possible suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance in 2020, and the subsequent confirmation in 2022, the case underwent a spectacular rebirth.
According to sources, Brueckner is a frequent burglar who has been convicted of committing sex crimes against young girls in the past. He is currently serving time in prison for raping a 72-year-old woman, and he has also been charged with several sex offences that are said to have occurred between 2000 and 2007.
Nevertheless, the story has now taken a fresh turn as a 21-year-old Polish lady named Julia Wendell came forward and claimed to be Madeleine.
Wendell has attempted to substantiate her claim with “proof” shared on social media, such as side-by-side comparisons of the physical traits she and Madeleine have in common.
Wendell set up an Instagram account over the weekend with the name “Help me, I need to talk with Kate and Gerry McCann” and the handle “iammadeleinemccan”.
She describes how she is physically identical to the lost Madeleine, including the well-known uncommon eye deformity and other facial traits, but she also claims to have little to no memory of her early years.
Wendell made the following remarks to the Daily Star:
She claimed, “I have experienced a great deal of stress and have led a very difficult life. My abuser was a German paedophile who was a suspect in the Madeleine McCann inquiry.
“I had never heard of this case until I started questioning my parents about my upbringing because I barely remember it. The recollections are all very hazy, and whenever I talk to my parents, they usually try to change the subject and things don’t seem to add together.
And yes, it is believed that the abuser she is referring to is the aforementioned Christian Bruckner.
According to the most recent rumours, Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry are ready to follow up on the tip and may decide to accept Julia’s offer to conduct a DNA test.
Thank you for your support, Julia acknowledged on her Instagram feed. Gerry McCann and Kate McCann consented to a DNA test!
The 21-year-old also disclosed how her own family had abandoned her, calling her “horrible” for giving the McCanns false hope.
