When Amanda Eckstein and her Indiana-based partner Phillip Werner decided to have a pleasant maternity photo shoot to celebrate their pregnancy, they had no idea that this day would go down in history.
They were posing for pictures with their horses for Kristen Zaffiro when Buckshot, a silly horse with a lot of personalities, decided to steal the show in the funniest way possible. The horse gave Zaffiro the widest and most contagious smile when he requested him to.
The photographer said it was the finest maternity shoot ever in a Facebook post earlier this month, adding, “Who thought when I ordered THIS horse to smile, he would.”

Although Zaffiro acknowledged that during the photo shoot Buckshot’s personality shone through, they were still able to do conventional maternity pictures later.
Buckshot is an amateur. He is such a joy to be around. I had no idea how much he enjoys being the center of attention, and as a result, Amanda is probably rolling her eyes a little! But after that, he did remain still and pose well, and we took lots of maternity photos.
We questioned Zaffiro if she anticipated any of it because seeing your images become popular online is not something that happens frequently:
I simply assumed our relatives and friends would enjoy a good chuckle, not that they would go viral. I was astounded as I observed the increase in views. As a photographer, I find it amazing when a photo I took becomes viral and draws attention to my website and page. So many followers and likes. I hope the baby photos do everyone honor!
Zaffiro said this photo shoot was extremely memorable and next on the list is a newborn photo shoot, which is very requested in the comments. However, we might not see Buckshot’s smile in the photos until the baby is older. Unless he decides to photobomb that one too!
