Many young people fall in love with a local employee. Some people choose to be firefighters. Some people picture a policeman. However, Brooklyn of Bloomington, Illinois had a garbage collector named Delvar Deshawn Dopson. Every day she waited by the window for him to drive by with his truck.
On Thursdays, Dopson went around. Every time he saw Brooklyn, she would wave and say hello. He always gave a wave and a smile in response. The young girl made his day better, and he was even more shocked when she gave him a gift on her birthday.
Traci Andracke, Brooklyn’s mother, was aware of how much Dopson meant to her child and occasionally took Brooklyn around the block if they missed his visit. Andracke claims that Brooklyn’s favorite fantastic cheerful garbage man is Dopson.
Brooklyn’s only birthday wish for her third birthday was to give the garbage collector one of her cupcakes as a thank you for all of his hard work. The young girl would surprise Dopson with a fairy cupcake.
Brooklyn’s mother posted the heartwarming incident on Facebook. Dopson was walking down the street waving when she called him over. He exited his truck with a wide grin on his face as Brooklyn handed him the cupcake she had been holding for him.
The family has been making amazing memories with the garbage man ever since. View the complete video at the conclusion of this post.
Andracke took the opportunity to tell Dopson how happy his weekly travels make his daughter, and he also disclosed that he looks forward to seeing them every Thursday.
On April 7, 2016, Brooklyn was pleased to be able to offer Dopson a cupcake for her birthday. I can’t even begin to express how pleased I was as a mother when she finally met him, Andracke added. She was so awestruck by the stars that she was unable to talk. She was dependent on me to carry out all of the speaking. She also has an endless supply of words.
After Dopson had left, Brooklyn went to her mother and exclaimed, “Mommy, I’m so pleased.” Despite the encounter’s briefness, it had a big impact.
Six months later, Dopson surprised Brooklyn and Ty with cupcakes and gifts for their birthdays. The custom has persisted, and Brooklyn and the Dopson family have no intention of stopping. Their family has gained a new friend as a result of their daughter’s thoughtful action.
Brooklyn and Dopson’s sweet exchange “blew her away,” Andracke explained. According to her: A small gesture – a honk, a wave, a smile – does not require much effort. Don’t hesitate. Give someone a smile or spend an extra second helping them. A smile can really brighten someone’s day no matter who it is on the receiving end.”
