Madden, an odd-looking yet endearing 7-year-old from Oklahoma, was born with a cleft lip and heterochromia irisum (differing colored eyes). Therefore, others thought it could be funny to tease the kid about his distinctive appearance.

A friend uploaded a picture of the cat to our Cleft Moms group last week. Madden’s mother, Christina Humphreys, revealed that a Minnesotan rescue organization had taken in the cat.

“Heterochromia Iridum Is When At Least Two Colors Are Present In A Part Of The Iris. I’ve been told that complete heterochromia iris, in which the eyes are entirely different colors from one another, is quite uncommon, occurring in less than 1% of the population. That Is Extremely Uncommon When Added to Cleft Lips.
We don’t tend to be spontaneous, but we knew we were meant to love this cat. Together, Moon, The Kitty, and Madden are the ideal companions. We Will Decide To Pursue Love In A World Filled With Bullies And Hateful Words. I believe it is safe to say that Madden and this cat were meant to travel together on their own journeys.
